1. Welcome, Attendance - Remind 101 for 2A, Newspaper Staff Picture
2. All students will complete their article planning sheet for interview questions at the beginning of the block.
3. Students will model good interview questions and bad interview questions (examples and non-examples).
4. Effective Interview Practice - Journalism I students will be paired for personal interviews. Each partner will interview the other with 5 interesting, open-ended questions. Given that information, each partner will write a short bio to present to the class. Included in that bio should be the answers to the posed questions with at least one response in quotation format. During the next class, partners will help edit and revise prior to publishing. Students will present bios to the class in blog format on our class website.

3. Journalism students will move to the Computer Lab - Room 224 - to begin the editing checklist process. Editors will distribute editing checklists for all articles.
4. Students will type and format articles according to staff specifications if they have not already done so.
5. Today and Thursday, each article will be read by 3 people in addition to the Associate Editor and the Editor-in-Chief. Honest, yet constructive comments will be shared with each writer to aid in the revision/editing process. Students will conference with Editors in Chief and Mrs. Clay during class today or Thursday.

2. Advertising Sales - Students will turn in reports on their progress of approaching people, organizations, and businesses they have contacted for newspaper advertising sales. Ad Sales Deadline for this grading period is today, October 30th.
3. Journalism Rights and Responsibilities - All students will practice reciting the First Amendment to the Constitution. (all 45 words in proper order with correct pronunciation and pauses). Students will form groups of 3 or 4 to practice. Each group member should have an equal number of speaking parts. Students will be given creative license in making their recitations unique. All groups will present for a classwork grade.
4. Students will review NSPA (National Student Press Association) Code of Ethics for Student Journalists: Be responsible, Be Fair, Be Honest, Be Accurate, Be Independent, Minimize Harm, Be Accountable.
5. Journalism 1 students will continue their study of landmark court cases related to the First Amendment and school newspapers: Hazelwood v. Kuhlmeier and Tinker v. Des Moines.
