1. Attendance, Announcements, Planners, Missing Work
2. Students will copy down the vocabulary Word-of-the-Day. In addition to recording the definition, students will create a web of information to help them remember the word: acquiesce.
3. Students will review reading log assignment and BOOKTALK assignment. Students should make and follow their own reading schedule in order to meet the deadline of presenting on December 16th or 18th. Students will submit titles and authors of books to me for grade level-appropriate approval. Students may sign up for presentation times on December 16th or 18th, either before or after school.
4. Write Source - Parallel Construction - As a class, students will read and study the information on p. 550 of the Write Source textbook and complete #1 - #4.
5. With some teacher guidance, students will use laptop computers to review the tutorial on the Holt website to review elements of short stories. In pairs, students will read each screen of the tutorial and complete 1-5 practice questions. 6. Independent Work - Students may read in their independent novel.
Homework: Keep up with your reading schedule for the BOOKTALK project which is due on December 16th or 18th. Bring your independent book choice to class on Thursday to read after you take the Unit Assessment on short stories.

3. Benchmark Assessment on Reading Comprehension - Students will read two selections and answer 12 multiple choice questions for each one, demonstrating knowledge of reading comprehension skills and application of literary terminology. Students will complete one of three literary analysis prompts.
4. Independent Work - When students finish benchmark assessment, they may read from their independent book, work on their BOOKTALK project, or work on the homework worksheet on parallel construction.
Homework: Complete grammar worksheet on parallel construction. Keep up with your reading schedule for the BOOKTALK project which is due on December 16th or 18th.

Review verbs studied so far in this unit: alleviate, coerce, disparage, annihilate, exacerbate, rebuke, acquiesce, and delineate.
3. I will check grammar homework for completion. Students will correct homework on parallel construction for accuracy. I will share examples of parallel construction taken from movies, advertising, and famous quotations. Students will begin classwork practice on parallel construction to prepare for quiz on Friday.
