1. Welcome, Attendance, Planners, Current Event News Article Assignment
2. Journalism Warm-Up #1 - Effective Leads
3. Interview Notes and Quotes - Students who did not turn in work last Tuesday will check in with section editors and Mrs. Clay
4. Students will create a photography wish list for individual articles. Chief Photographers will work on assignments.
5. Students will create relevant poll questions to include in their assigned articles. Your goal is to include the thoughts and feelings of as many Landstown students as possible. What questions will work best for your article? Create and submit to Mrs. Clay. Students who are ready with Clipboard Questions may poll for 15 minute increments around the building.
6. Using laptop computers from Cart 24, students will continue working on their articles for the upcoming deadline: Friday, December 5th.
Homework: Completed articles are due on Friday, December 5th. Photographs, kickers, and captions are due Tuesday, December 9th. Begin work on December Current Event News Article Assignment.

1. Attendance, Announcements, Design & Layout Meeting TODAY from 2:15 - 3:30.
2. Fundraising Candy Sale - Students will sign for one box of candy that has a dollar amount equivalent to the number of pieces in the box. Students are encouraged to sell candy over the course of the next two weeks. If students choose to sell during school, they must do so between class changes and only with teacher permission. Students may turn in money during Journalism class, immediately after school, or during Mrs. Clay's study block (4A). Be smart - do not let the candy or money out of your sight. If students sell an entire box and would like to sell more, see Mrs. Clay or one of the Fundraising Managers: Jasmine Phillips or Dayana Lee.
3. Current Event News Article Presentations - Students will present individual current events which analyze the news and encourage reflection and discussion.
4. For each article written, students will ask three classmates (Including Section Editor) to proofread and sign the article submission checklist. Students will turn in completed articles to the Editors-in-Chief: Alex Williams and Brittany Niemeyer. Editors will alert Mrs. Clay of any problems. Using laptop computers, students will revise their articles and re-upload to Sharepoint.
5. Students will create a new document for the kicker, caption, and credit of each photograph and upload to SharePoint.
Homework: Have you met the December Deadlines? If not, get busy for partial points! Start fundraising! Continue working on December Current Event News Article Assignment. Mrs. Sanderlin will be in class on Thursday to review Layout and Design.

2. Fundraising Candy Sale - Students will share positive and negative experiences so far to keep the lines of communication open so we can assess the fundraiser along the way.
3. Mrs. Sanderlin (Landstown's CRS and former Journalism teacher) will review the basics of Layout and Design to Journalism 2 & 3 students (and select Journalism 1 students) using the Adobe InDesign program. With her guidance, students will work on their layout pages for the January issue.
4. Mrs. Clay will work with the remaining Journalism 1 students. First, we will be sure everyone has met the December deadline. Second, we will begin the Restaurant Review project. Ultimately, students will choose a local Virginia Beach restaurant (fast food or dine-in) to review. Students will review the requirements and style of a restaurant review.
5. The two groupings of students will re-convene after Mrs. Sanderlin's lesson is complete in order for students to present their December Current Event News Article Presentations.
Homework: Have you met the December Deadlines for your articles, photographs, and captions? If not, turn in ASAP! You are holding up the next step of our publication process! Continue fundraising! Continue working on December Current Event News Article Assignment.
