2. Writing Responses - According to many people, parents are responsible for teaching their children to behave (or not behave) in a certain way. What have your parents taught you? In what ways is your behavior similar to or different from your family members? Have you learned more good or bad habits/qualities from them? What lines do you hear most often from members of your family?
3. To Kill A Mockingbird - Students will read and analyze excerpts from Chapter 1 to become familiar with the character of Scout, Jem, and Atticus Finch.
Homework: none :) Have a relaxing Spring Break! See you on April 13th!

Writing Responses Connection - As you read the excerpts from Part 1 of To Kill a Mockingbird, connect our last writing assignment with the characters in this novel: Who is responsible for teaching Jem and Scout to behave (or not behave) in a certain way. (How about Walter Cunningham and Burris Ewell?) What lessons did Atticus teach Jem and Scout? In what ways is Jem's behavior similar to or different from Scout's? What good or bad habits/qualities have Jem and Scout learn from Atticus? Calpurnia?

4. To Kill A Mockingbird - Students will read a summary of Chapter 1 and continue with audio excerpts from Chapters 2 through 3 to become familiar with the Finch, Cunningham, and Ewell families.
5. Characterization - Students will use a graphic organizer to keep track of major and minor characters.
6. Boo Radley Artwork - Using descriptions from the text, students will create drawings of the character of Boo Radley.
