Meet Mrs. Clay
Born into a family of educators, Mrs. Clay is a Virginia Beach native and 1986 graduate of First Colonial High School. She is the daughter of the late Bruce McGuire, former Deputy Superintendent of VBCPS and the granddaughter of the late Frank W. Cox, former Superintendent of VBCPS. After studying English at James Madison University, she returned home to teach 7th, 8th, and 9th graders at Lynnhaven Junior High School. She continued teaching 8th grade English when it transitioned to Lynnhaven Middle School from 1993 - 2002. She left LMS in 2002 when she had her first son, Connor. She chose to stay at home for 6 years with him and his younger brother, Campbell, until Dr. Matney offered her a position at Frank W. Cox High School teaching English 11. Following Dr. Matney to Landstown in 2013, Mrs. Clay is entering her 3rd year at Landstown and her 18th year of teaching. Married for 15 years to her husband, Howard, Mrs. Clay loves reading, watching movies, going to the beach and the neighborhood pool, riding roller coasters, spending time with her boys, and skiing with her family in Colorado. |
